Produced to the highest standards, Herpa diecast metal models are developed in collaboration with aircraft manufacturers and are recognized by discerning model airplane collectors worldwide for their unparalleled, accurate realism, attention to detail and exceptional quality. True-to-scale, this 1/200 scale Russian Air Force Tupolev TU-95MS manufactured by Herpa measures approximately 9-9/16-inches long with an 9-15/16-inch wingspan. The classic among Russian bombers is the unique Tupolev TU-95MS, also known by its NATO designation - Bear. The combination of the swept-wing structure and turboprop engines remains fascinating to this day, with both elements contributing to its remarkable performance. The engines alone, which owe their origins to their German engineering, to date, are still the most powerful turboprops in the world, featuring two counter-rotating propellers that are nearly 6-meters / 19-1/2-feet in diameter. The TU-95MS engines have been continuously maintained and updated as necessitated in the past as required, as have its numerous other onboard components, including its armaments, which must stay current for the aircraft to remain in service as a long-range bomber with the Russian Air Force for years to come. At the time of this writing there are three regiments that have a total of 55 Tupolev TU-95MS strategic long-range bombers still in service, with the template for this model having come from the 184th Regiment, which is part of the 6950th Air Base, based in Saratov Oblast, Russia. In addition to its registration, RF-94127, the Russian Air Force continues to maintain the tradition of naming its TU-95s after cities, which, in this case, this nuclear-capable bomber is named Vorkuta in honor of the mining settlement of the same name, located at the northern end of the Ural Mountains north of the Arctic Circle.
